White Oak Ancestor & Protection Incense Holder – Pāua Inlay & Hand-Carved Ash Channel
A handmade incense holder created as a simple way to bring smoke, remembrance and intention into ritual practice.
This piece is made from recycled white oak, salvaged as scrap from a woodturner’s mill and given a new purpose rather than allowing useful timber to go to waste. The wood has been shaped and finished by hand, allowing the natural grain and character of the oak to remain visible.
Laser engraved along one side are the words:
“May the ancestors be honoured, and the path be protected.”
A simple blessing for an altar or ritual space, reflecting the intention of remembering those who came before us while seeking protection and guidance along our own path.
The incense stick rests over a hand-carved limewood ash channel, allowing the ash to collect neatly within the carved recess.
Two small pieces of New Zealand Pāua shell have been set into the wood as decorative inlays and secured with UV resin, adding flashes of natural blue, green and iridescent colour.
Created as a meaningful addition to an altar, ancestor space or personal spiritual practice, this holder brings together recycled timber, hand carving, natural shell and a quiet statement of remembrance and protection.
Each piece of recycled wood has its own grain, colour, knots and natural markings, making every holder individual.
Safety: Always place incense on a stable, heat-resistant surface and never leave burning incense unattended. Keep away from children, pets and anything flammable.
