Crushed by hand and sifted into a fine powder, this pigment carries both a natural elegance and a potent spiritual frequency, making it ideal for resin art, mixed media, ritual tools, or pigment-based inlay and sacred craftwork.
Scientific Composition: Mineral Group: Gypsum family (variety of selenite) Chemical Formula: CaSO₄·2H₂O (Calcium Sulfate Dihydrate) Hardness: 2 on the Mohs scale – very soft, handle with care. Lustre: Silky, fibrous with a gentle natural shimmer Structure: Typically forms in long, fibrous wands with internal “glow” Solubility: Slightly water soluble – not suitable for water-based mediums without sealant This form of gypsum is known for its soft, pearlescent shimmer and translucent fibres—hence the name satin spar. Unlike transparent flat selenite plates, satin spar has a fibrous glow and is often mistaken for its cousin.
