Lime Wood & Reclaimed Hardwood “Breathe” Pocket Incense & Offering Holders – Travel Ritual Tools

Tiny handmade ritual tools designed for those who like to take their practice outdoors without carrying bulky altar equipment.

These compact holders are approximately the size of a large key ring and are available in lime wood or an unidentified reclaimed hardwood. The lime comes from offcuts within my own studio, while the unidentified hardwood came from a box of mixed offcuts purchased from a woodturner’s mill that I regularly source reclaimed and leftover material from.

I work with a lot of offcuts, reclaimed timber and waste material within my practice. Small pieces that may be too awkward for larger woodworking projects can still be beautiful, useful materials, so these holders are another way of turning what might otherwise become waste into something functional.

A small reminder to pause, slow down and reconnect with yourself — whether you’re meditating outdoors, travelling, sitting quietly in nature or simply taking a moment away from everyday life.

Each holder incorporates a hand-chiselled offering bowl, suitable for small non-burning offerings according to your own personal practice.

A braided jute cord allows the holder to be hung when not in use or attached to a bag using your own small carabiner or clip. Their compact size makes them particularly useful for outdoor rituals, meditation, travelling, camping, van life, festivals, retreats and portable altar kits.

Reclaimed & Offcut Wood

Waste reduction is an important part of how I work. I regularly use offcuts from my own projects as well as boxes of scrap and leftover timber from other craftspeople and mills.

One version of this holder is made from lime wood studio offcuts. The other is made from an unidentified hardwood reclaimed from a woodturner’s mill offcuts box.

Rather than guessing at the species when its identity cannot be reliably confirmed, I prefer to simply describe it as reclaimed hardwood. Whatever tree it originally came from, it’s a perfectly good piece of timber that has now been given another purpose.

Because these pieces are made from reclaimed and leftover material, natural variations in grain, colour and markings are to be expected and are part of their individual character.

Important Fire Safety

These holders are made from wood and must be treated accordingly.

If using incense outdoors, keep burning incense, hot ash and embers completely separate from dry grass, leaves, twigs, paper, dry offerings and other flammable materials. Do not combine burning material with dry offerings inside the carved bowl.

Do not use burning incense during heatwaves, drought conditions, fire bans or periods of increased wildfire risk. Always follow local restrictions and conditions. The holder can still be used for non-burning offerings, meditation or as part of a portable altar when fire conditions make incense inappropriate.

Never leave burning incense unattended and ensure it is completely extinguished before packing the holder away.
