Reclaimed Sapele Mahogany Pendulum Board – British Museum Celtic Pattern
A handmade sapele mahogany pendulum board featuring a Celtic-inspired geometric design, created from a pattern found in a British Museum pattern book.
The historic design has been reinterpreted onto reclaimed timber as a contemporary functional object, bringing an archaeological and artistic influence into a modern pendulum board.
The intricate geometric pattern reflects the characteristic use of curves, symmetry, repetition and interwoven forms found throughout Iron Age European decorative art. Rather than being presented as an archaeological reproduction, this is a modern interpretation of a historic museum pattern.
The board includes an A–Z alphabet and 0–10 number sequence, providing a straightforward layout for pendulum work, reflection and personal practice.
A small incense-stick hole has also been drilled into the board, allowing it to be incorporated into a meditation or ritual setup when appropriate.
A braided jute cord is fitted through a drilled hole, allowing the board to be hung when not in use or attached to a carabiner for carrying while travelling, hiking or camping.
Reclaimed Sapele Mahogany
The sapele mahogany used for this board came from a wood offcuts box, giving a useful piece of timber another life rather than allowing it to become waste.
Sapele is known for its warm reddish-brown colouring and distinctive grain, which can include attractive interlocking and ribbon-like patterns. Because this is reclaimed timber, natural variations in grain, colour and markings will occur from board to board.
