The triskele: history and personal symbolism
The triskele is a three-armed motif radiating from a shared centre, with a place in Iron Age Celtic art, including decorated objects found in Wales. Triple-spiral designs also appear in much earlier Neolithic art at Newgrange in Ireland, so their history should not be described as exclusively Celtic.
Its original meanings are not known with certainty. The cycle of birth, life and death is one suggested interpretation of the Iron Age motif, rather than a proven universal meaning. In your own practice, you might use its threefold form to reflect on cycles, change or the connections between different parts of your life. You are equally welcome to enjoy it simply as a flowing geometric design.
Wood, finish and hanging details
I polish the wood to 800 grit, then apply a beeswax polish containing vitamin E and lavender. A brass hook eye and braided jute cord allow you to hang the board when it is not in use.

For me, a pendulum board is a tool: you bring your own beliefs, intentions and interpretation to its use. There is no need for an elaborate setup, and you can work with it in a way that feels meaningful to you.
