This listing is for one glass bottle of New Zealand Rainbow Pāua (Haliotis iris) offcut chips, sustainably collected as by-products from my own shell carving and jewellery work. Instead of going to waste, these vibrant fragments are given new life as a versatile material for crafters, jewellers, and spiritual practitioners.

🔹 Crafting & Creative Uses
These chips are ideal for:
• Stone inlay in wood, resin, or bone carvings.
• Mosaics and mixed media art projects.
• Jewellery making, from pendants to bead inlay.
• Aquarium décor, adding a shimmer of ocean colour to fish tanks.

Each bottle contains a mix of shapes and sizes, offering creative freedom for your projects.

🔹 Science & Natural Origin
Pāua is a marine mollusc unique to New Zealand, recognised worldwide for its iridescent nacre that reflects vibrant blues, greens, purples, and pinks. The shell’s brilliance is due to thin-film interference, where layers of aragonite crystals bend light into shifting rainbow hues. These offcuts come directly from wild and farmed Pāua shells, collected and hand-processed in Aotearoa.

🔹 Spiritual & Metaphysical
In Māori culture, Pāua is deeply valued for both adornment and its wairua (spiritual essence). It is often associated with the sea god Tangaroa and used as a symbol of life’s many colours, resilience, and beauty. Metaphysically, Pāua is said to:
• Encourage balance and emotional healing, particularly during times of stress.
• Enhance intuition, communication, and empathy, strengthening bonds with others.
• Offer protection and a calming energy, especially in spiritual or altar work.

These chips can be incorporated into ritual tools, altar décor, or talismans, making them as spiritually valuable as they are creatively versatile.

Care Note

Please remember these are natural shell chips — while strong enough for inlay and craft use, they can be fragile under heavy pressure. Handle with care during setting or shaping.
