Mixed Pounamu Jade Chip Pendant – New Zealand Greenstone in Resin, Māori Inspired Necklace.

Crafted from the waste remnants of my studio, this pendant embodies the philosophy of honoring and repurposing nature’s gifts. A fusion of New Zealand Pounamu (nephrite jade) and serpentine chips, each piece is carefully collected and encased in clear UV resin, creating a unique, one-of-a-kind talisman. The rectangular shape symbolizes stability, grounding, and strength, while the materials within hold deep cultural and spiritual significance.

Stone Composition & Properties
Nephrite Jade (Pounamu): A calcium-magnesium-rich silicate mineral, known for its toughness and revered status in Māori tradition.
Serpentine: A group of magnesium silicate minerals, often associated with spiritual awakening and protection.
Mohs Hardness: Nephrite (6–6.5), Serpentine (2.5–5) – ensuring durability with a smooth, polished finish.
Māori & Spiritual Significance
Pounamu (nephrite jade) is considered a sacred taonga (treasure) in Māori culture, representing strength, protection, and connection to ancestors. Traditionally, it was carved into hei toki (adzes), roimata (tear drops), and kuru (elongated pendants), passed down through generations as powerful heirlooms.

Serpentine, also found in New Zealand, has been used by various cultures for spiritual cleansing, energy alignment, and protection. It is believed to connect the wearer with nature, enhance intuition, and encourage emotional balance.
