From the sacred rivers and alpine valleys of Te Waipounamu (South Island, New Zealand) comes this collection of Pounamu (greenstone) offcuts, gathered from my carving bench and hand-processed into small chips.
Each vial holds a blend of Nephrite Jade and Serpentine, revealing the varied mineral story of New Zealand’s stone heart — deep greens, smoky blacks, and soft olive hues fractured with pale veins of light.

This material is ethically reclaimed from carving remnants — nothing taken from the wild, and nothing wasted. Ideal for resin art, inlay work, or spiritual and ritual uses, these chips carry the mana and presence of Pounamu in a form both tactile and humble.

🌀 Spirit & Significance

In Māori tradition, Pounamu is a taonga — a treasure, symbolising strength, protection, and connection to lineage. Even as fragments, its energy remains potent: grounding yet fluid, ancestral yet deeply personal.
The added serpentine veins soften that grounding, introducing an energy of healing, renewal, and adaptability — making this blend powerful for transformation, shadow work, and protective charm creation.

Perfect for:
• Spell jars and ritual blends
• Ancestral altar offerings
• Resin or jewellery inlay
• Symbolic keepsakes of Aotearoa’s sacred stone

⚒️ Craft & Material

• Genuine Pounamu (Nephrite Jade) and Serpentine from New Zealand
• Crushed and sieved by hand from carving waste — no fresh quarrying
• Contained in a 15 ml glass vial (with cork or screw lid depending on stock)
• Colour: Deep forest to olive green, with lighter flecks and occasional black or white veining
• Sustainably sourced — 100 % studio reuse

🧭 Geology & Science
• Primary minerals: Actinolite-Tremolite (Nephrite Jade) + Antigorite (Serpentine)
• Composition: Ca₂(Mg,Fe)₅Si₈O₂₂(OH)₂ — a silicate rich in magnesium and iron
• Hardness: 6 – 6.5 (Mohs)
• Crystal system: Monoclinic amphibole
• Formation: Metamorphic contact zones of serpentinised ultramafic rock
• Texture: Interlocking fibrous crystals — this gives Pounamu its famous toughness
• Lustre: Waxy to silky, depending on polish and grain

Even in crushed form, these minerals display the micro-fibrous texture that gives Nephrite its toughness and soft internal glow — science’s quiet echo of its spiritual strength.

🔮 Metaphysical & Ritual Uses

• Protection talismans or grounding blends
• Strength through adversity — resilience energy
• Excellent for ancestor, land, or water work
• Stabilises emotional energy while maintaining spiritual flow
• Ideal for new practitioners — gentle yet deeply protective stone energy
