This handcrafted Roimata (teardrop) pendant merges the quiet power of ancient Fenland Bog Oak with the ethereal fire of a genuine Ethiopian Opal inlay. Made to order, each piece is a unique blend of ancestral depth and shimmering light—designed to ground, uplift, and inspire.

In Māori tradition, the Roimata form symbolises the flow of emotion—grief, healing, compassion—and is often worn as a talisman of peace and strength. It’s a fitting shape to pair with Bog Oak, a prehistoric wood preserved in England’s peat bogs for thousands of years, offering a deep, grounding presence.

The inset Ethiopian Opal brings contrast and brilliance, catching the light with flashes of green, blue, and red. Revered across cultures for centuries, Opal is a stone of intuition, transformation, and emotional insight—a light bringer that harmonises beautifully with the steady grounding of the oak.

🔹 Made to order: Because this pendant is created from natural wood and genuine opal, each one will differ slightly in grain, fire, and pattern. You're welcome to contact me to choose your preferred piece—or allow me to intuitively select one for you.

Scientific & Historical Notes:
Fenland Bog Oak (Quercus spp.):

Age: Between 2,000–5,000 years old
Preservation Process: Waterlogged peatlands in the Fenlands of Eastern England create an oxygen-free environment where the wood mineralises over millennia, turning it jet black
Cultural Role: Often seen as a living relic, it connects us with ancient landscapes and ancestral memory
Ethiopian Opal (Hydrated Silica, SiO₂·nH₂O):

Structure: Amorphous with high water content (3–21%)
Hardness: 5.5–6.5 on the Mohs scale
Optical Phenomenon: Displays “play-of-colour” due to silica spheres diffracting light
Source: Welo and Shewa regions of Ethiopia
Metaphysical Traits: Said to enhance creativity, emotional clarity, and spiritual awakening. Ethiopian opals are also prized for their raw connection to the elements—especially water and fire.
