Collection: Mussel shell

Each pink mussel shell carries a story of freshwater currents, worn smooth by New Zealand’s rivers and shaped by time, collected through what nature naturally gives by beach combers hands. From riverbank to studio, these shells are curated with care — some naturally tumbled, some inspired by traditional Polynesian forms — ready to become part of your own story.

With two collections,

Tumbled Aotearoa, River Edition - Each piece has been gently shaped by the currents of Aotearoa’s river systems before being collected by hand. These shells hold the soft polish of time and water — no machines, no rush, just the rhythm of nature refining what it created. Finished simply to highlight their natural blush tones, they carry the calm of the rivers they came from.

Aroha Aotearoa, River Edition - Inspired by traditional Polynesian design, these carvings are made from river-worn pink mussel shell — each piece still whispering the flow of the water it once knew. Hand-shaped and detailed in my Chatham studio, they merge ancestral form with modern craft, celebrating connection, movement, and the quiet strength of natural beauty.
