These handmade earrings feature authentic New Zealand Pounamu (nephrite jade), carefully tumbled and polished before being drilled and set on 925 sterling silver fish hook findings with jump rings. Each pair is one of a kind, showcasing the natural variations in colour, translucency, and inclusions that make Pounamu so treasured.

Worn for centuries by Māori and now beloved worldwide, Pounamu is more than a stone – it is a taonga (treasure) carrying deep cultural and spiritual meaning. Traditionally regarded as a stone of strength, protection, and connection, Pounamu is often gifted as a symbol of respect, love, and enduring bonds.

✨ Spiritual Significance
• Protection & Guidance – Believed to guard the wearer from harm and negative energy.
• Strength & Endurance – Symbolises resilience and courage, carrying the mana (spiritual power) of the land it comes from.
• Connection – Encourages harmony, grounding, and connection with both people and place.

To the Māori of Aotearoa New Zealand, Pounamu is more than a stone — it is a taonga (treasure), gifted between families, carried as protective talismans, and imbued with mana (spiritual authority, prestige). It is often seen as a living material, one that gathers wairua (spirit, essence) from its wearer over time, becoming deeply personal and sacred.

In the wider metaphysical community, nephrite jade is valued as a stone of healing, balance, and resilience. It is believed to:
• 🌿 Ground and protect – shielding the aura from negative energies while keeping the wearer connected to the earth.
• 💚 Encourage emotional balance – soothing the heart, easing stress, and fostering harmony in relationships.
• ✨ Manifest abundance and growth – long associated with prosperity, fertility, and renewal.
• 🪶 Strengthen spiritual connection – particularly for those who feel drawn to ancestral energy or earth-centered practices.

Carrying or wearing even a small tumble of Pounamu is thought to bring a sense of calm strength, acting as both a protector and a companion on life’s journey. Many choose to meditate with Pounamu in hand, keep it close as a pocket stone, or use it as a touchstone for grounding during stressful times.

⚛️ Science & Geology
• Mineral Type: Nephrite Jade (a calcium magnesium silicate).
• Hardness: 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale.
• Geography: This stone was collected and shaped in New Zealand, where Pounamu is found in South Island rivers and mountains. Its toughness made it historically invaluable for tools and adornments.

🌿 Handcrafted with Care
Each piece of Pounamu is unique — no two stones will ever be the same. Subtle shifts in tone, pattern, and depth of green ensure every pair of earrings is truly one-of-a-kind.

Care guide:
To keep your Pounamu earrings looking their best, gently wipe them with a soft cloth after wear. Every so often, apply a little natural oil (like olive or flaxseed oil) to nourish the stone and enhance its sheen. Avoid harsh chemicals and prolonged water exposure to preserve both stone and silver.
