Welcome to - Kerrie Owens Arts -

Crafted from the sacred yew wood, these shavings offer a unique and sustainable option for spells, rituals, and spiritual practices. Sourced from the byproduct of my jewellery design and carving work, each shaving embodies the essence of the ancient yew tree, revered for its mystical properties and deep spiritual significance. While there may be small amounts of other wood shavings mixed in, rest assured that the majority of the shavings are pure yew wood, carefully collected to minimize waste in my studio. With each purchase, you will receive the entire amount of shavings I have collected, allowing you to harness the potent energy of yew wood in your spiritual endeavors without the hassle of weighing or measuring. Embrace the power of nature and the wisdom of the ancients as you incorporate these yew wood shavings into your sacred practices, rituals, and ceremonies.

In spell work, yew wood is often associated with transformation, protection, and ancestral connections. Its deep-rooted history in pagan and Wiccan traditions symbolizes the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, making it ideal for rituals involving transitions or profound change. Yew is also revered for its protective qualities, guarding against negative energies and promoting spiritual resilience. In Norse mythology, the yew tree was considered sacred to the god Odin, representing wisdom, insight, and the eternal cycle of life. Its association with the afterlife and the passage of souls adds a layer of depth to its spiritual significance, making it a potent tool for journeying between realms and communing with ancestors. Incorporating yew wood into spell work and rituals can enhance intuition, deepen spiritual connections, and foster a sense of inner strength and renewal.

Yew wood is prized in spell work for several reasons. Firstly, its association with transformation aligns with the essence of many spells, as practitioners often seek to enact change or transition in their lives or the lives of others. Additionally, its protective properties make it a valuable tool for shielding against negative energies or unwanted influences during rituals or spell casting. Furthermore, yew wood's deep-rooted history and sacred significance in various spiritual traditions lend it a sense of potency and reverence, making it a popular choice for practitioners seeking to tap into ancient wisdom and ancestral connections. Finally, its connection to the cycles of life, death, and rebirth resonates with themes of regeneration and renewal, making it particularly suitable for rituals focused on personal growth, healing, and spiritual evolution.

It's important to note that yew wood contains toxic compounds, particularly in its leaves, seeds, and bark, including taxine alkaloids. While the wood itself is generally considered safe for crafting, it's crucial to handle it with care and avoid contact with the mouth or ingestion. Therefore, yew wood pendants should not be put into the mouth, ingested, or given to minors under 18 years old. As the seller, I cannot accept responsibility for any misuse or mishandling of any yew wood coming out of my studio. My purpose for selling these shavings are for spells, rituals, camping purposes and other crafts only, not for to be consumed. It's always advisable to keep such items out of reach of children and to exercise caution when storing them them in your home. They are not advised for any one with neurodivergence that like to chew on things.

Ingesting parts of the yew tree, such as the leaves, seeds, or bark, can lead to severe poisoning. Yew contains toxic compounds called taxine alkaloids, which can affect the heart, nervous system, and gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms of yew poisoning may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dizziness, difficulty breathing, seizures, and potentially fatal heart rhythm disturbances. Ingesting even small amounts of yew plant material can be dangerous and may require immediate medical attention. It's essential to seek emergency medical care if ingestion of yew is suspected.
