This pendant is hand-carved from ancient Preseli Bluestone, the same dolerite rock carried from the Preseli Hills to form the inner circle of Stonehenge. Set into its heart runs a central line of Avebury Sarsen Stone, secured with high-quality UV resin, echoing the unity of two megalithic traditions: Preseli Bluestone and Sarsen, the very stones of Britain’s most enduring sacred sites.
Shaped in the form of a Roimata — the teardrop — this pendant carries deep symbolism in Polynesian culture. The Roimata represents tears of compassion, healing, and release, often worn as a symbol of remembrance, empathy, and strength through adversity. Its softly rounded bottom reflects harmony, completion, and a journey smoothed by time, much like water shaping stone.
🔹 Spiritual Connection
• Preseli Bluestone is often regarded as a stone of ancestral wisdom and spiritual connection, believed to enhance meditation, inner guidance, and alignment with the Earth’s natural energies.
• Avebury Sarsen Stone, with its strength and endurance, brings a sense of stability, grounding, and resilience.
• Together, they symbolise balance between the ancient and the eternal, the inner self and the wider world.

The Science
Preseli Bluestone:
• A dolerite (igneous rock) formed ~450 million years ago, composed mainly of plagioclase feldspar and pyroxene. Tough, dense, and subtly sparkling under light.
• Rock Type: Sedimentary, specifically a silcrete (sandstone cemented by silica).
• Composition: Mostly quartz grains bound tightly by silica, making it extremely hard and durable.
• Formation: Originates from Tertiary period deposits (~30 million years ago), when groundwater rich in silica percolated through sandy sediments, binding them into solid blocks.
• Hardness: ~7 on the Mohs scale due to its high quartz content.
• Features: Light grey to brown in colour, often with a smooth but tough texture. Its sheer strength allowed it to be shaped into the towering megaliths of Stonehenge and Avebury.
Avebury Sarsen Stone:
• A silcrete (silicified sandstone) formed ~30 million years ago, composed almost entirely of quartz grains fused by silica, exceptionally hard and durable.
• The meeting of these two stones brings together fire-born igneous strength and water-shaped sedimentary resilience, much like the union of sky and earth.

Geological Significance
Together, these stones represent two very different geological processes:
• Preseli Bluestone, born of fire and molten rock, speaks of the Earth’s inner forces.
• Sarsen, hardened through silica-rich waters and time, represents the slow alchemy of surface processes.
The combination in your pendant quite literally unites the deep Earth and the surface world, just as ancient builders united them in Britain’s sacred stone circles.

Polynesian Symbolism of the Roimata
• Represents tears shed for healing and remembrance.
• A talisman of compassion, emotional release, and empathy.
• Traditionally worn to honour loved ones, overcome grief, and to remind the wearer of their inner strength and resilience.

✨ Each pendant is handmade, meaning no two will ever be the same. Grain, stone patterning, and inlay will vary, making every piece a one-of-a-kind connection to history, culture, and Earth’s deep story.
