The lime wood comes from offcuts within my own studio, while the hardwood was reclaimed from a mixed offcuts box purchased from a woodturner’s mill that I regularly source leftover timber from.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eLaser engraved across the top is a sunflower and Fibonacci sequence design, bringing together botanical pattern and mathematics in a small piece of functional ritual equipment.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe sunflower is a fascinating example of phyllotaxis — the arrangement of seeds within the flower head. The spiralling patterns found in sunflowers can often produce relationships between neighbouring Fibonacci numbers, creating an interesting connection between mathematical pattern and natural growth.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe design is intended simply as a celebration of nature, pattern and mathematics. What matters here is that a perfectly useful piece of timber that might otherwise have been discarded has been given another life.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAs these are made from reclaimed and leftover timber, each one will have its own grain, colour, markings and character. The exact appearance will vary from piece to piece.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eImportant Fire Safety\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThese holders are made from wood and must be treated accordingly.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIf using incense outdoors, keep burning incense, hot ash and embers completely separate from dry grass, leaves, twigs, paper, dry offerings and other flammable materials. Do not combine burning material with dry offerings inside the carved bowl.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eDo not use burning incense during heatwaves, drought conditions, fire bans or periods of increased wildfire risk. Always follow local restrictions and conditions.
